- A new edition of the book Tips for Queensland Research has just been published. Most chapters in the previous edition have been significantly updated and/or expanded (often with details of additional sources or new indexes); and some extra topics have been added.

- Cooktown residents who signed a petition in 1874. The signature in this source may be the only surviving example of your ancestor's handwriting.
- My genealogy 'Updates' Newsletter is now on-line.
- More names added to the list of friends and relatives sought, missing persons, alleged offenders, prisoners, wife/child deserters, victims of crime etc. mentioned in Qld Police Gazettes.
- Late last year I added titles of papers from the 2006 Australasian Congress to the page about published papers from genealogy conferences. A wide range of topics and geographical areas are covered. If you have British or Irish research, take particular note of the papers by Sherry Irvine and Michael Gandy. Conference papers provide historical context and give advice on sources, research methods, preserving your records, etc., including lots of information that is not on the Internet.

- Names of women granted protection orders 1888-1904.
- I am often unable to send email to Hotmail, Yahoo and some other addresses. If you don't receive a reply: check your 'junk mail', give me a different email address to try, or send a stamped self-addressed envelope with your enquiry to Judy Webster, PO Box 5043, Algester QLD 4115, Australia. My Web site always shows my current preferred and alternative email addresses, which are subject to change. To reduce spam, please do NOT quote my email address in mailing list or newsgroup messages, and do NOT put it anywhere on the Internet. Instead, refer people to my Web site for current contact details.

- Since I changed hidden settings, 'Web searches' from the Google search boxes on my Web pages now produce results more relevant to genealogy. Advertisements that Google puts with the search results may also be relevant. To search the Web instead of my site, click the button beside 'Web' on the search box. On most of my pages the SURNAME is shown first, followed by the given name, but there are some exceptions. To avoid misinterpretation, always click the link on Google's results page to see more details.

- Patients' names from Cooktown Hospital admission registers 1884-1901 have been combined into a single alphabetical sequence. Many people from other parts of Australia (and sailors from ships in port) visited Cooktown briefly and appear in these records.
